Hey ! You, the ones that wanna take a trip to Bucharest and you, the ones that asked me on Instagram where to go and what to eat here!

I've promised you an article.... Here it is!

First of all, The Bucharest people are cool and mostly all of them speak English and really good too! Bartenders and waiters are friendly, and if you want to run on four wheels, I recommend you go with an Uber or order a Taxi online. Taxi drivers are known to burn your pockets if you pick them off the road, especially if you are a foreigner. You can expect to go with the monkey! We call it that.

Second of all...the food! OH, the food !!! Now this is what we are known for. I'm not saying that our traditional foods are ours from the beginning of times, but we have them now and we are proud of them. Also, if we travel, that's the first thing that we miss.

And here's what to look for and to ask for when you are coming to Romania and you want to have a feast:

Names in Romanian language and how you need to ask for them: Mici, sarmale, ciorba de vacuta, ciorba de fasole (necessarily with with pickled chilli peppers or plain chilli), tochitura, mancare de fasole, carnati de Plescoi, sunca afumata cu ceapa...

And for drinks, you'll never go wrong with some autentic: Tuica, Visinata, Zmeurata and some romanian wines.. (these would be some wine cellars to look for: Oprisor, Liliac, Budureasca, Corcova...)

In Romania you can buy cigarets in Supermarkets, or at the kiosks, not only at the Tobacco Stores. Also, the alcohol can be bought any hour of the night and day, but don't drink it outside. It is illegal.

Last but not least.. where to go:

Parks:

Alexandru Ioan Cuza (also known as IOR) park, sits in the greenest neighbourhood, and you have some nice places to take pictures or have a picnic too. There are also some pretty cake shops around with fresh cakes and you can find Parklake Mall here.

Herastrau is the biggest of them all and you'll have also some activities you can do here like boats and bikes for four people. Here you'll also find some restaurant where you can have something to eat or a nice cocktail while watching the sunset right on the lake.

Cismigiu is a small and romantic parc.. there's lots of inspiration there.

I would recommend you to visit the Botanical Garden too and The Village Museum - here you can enter from inside Herastrau Park too.

Bucharest has so many parks, they are like everywhere!

Restaurants

I'm not going to write here the most fancy ones. I want to recommend to you the local ones, where we all go!

First of all... have you noticed, the taste of Mc Donald's, KFC or any other fast food restaurants we all have, differ from country to country ? For example I find that the cheeseburger in France it's more tasteless and dry compared to ours, or that KFC makes the wings dryer and they don't have garlic sauce which... idk, for us.. is the shit, dude!

So you can eat traditional food in this places: Ivan's Pub & Grill, Cocosatu (for the best mici in town!), Caru' cu bere, Zexe Zahana, La Tiganci etc.

If you want to go for something else you can also go to: Grano, Grivita Pub&Grill, Suzana Ribs & Wings.

The tip for a table is 10% (not written on the bill).

Pubs & Coffee Shops

Pubs are everywhere in the Old City and are open on Friday and Saturday after 10pm. You can also go for some high class ones, but I am not writing them down here.

If you want to go and drink something in the Old City that's also a great idea, after a long day of wondering on the streets nearby. You have to make a reservation or to get there early in the evening because there's lots of people on weekend nights and you won't have any place to sit.

Strongly recommend wondering the streets, from Unirii Square to Victory Square, the architecture is really nice! Especially around the Romanian Government.

Starbucks is everywhere and the local coffee shops are all great and unique. There are lots of young entrepreneurs that shared their passion for coffee with the public!

Try Cereal Crunch, Nominoe Creperie (they have gluten free salted & sweet pancakes).

Ok, so that's all folks !

My work here is done.

If you have any more questions or you want to tell me about your trip here, don't hold back!
