My mother and I are both insane to see the world. Last summer, as I visited her in Paris, she surprised me & bought one day tickets to Strasbourg. Yuppyy !
Strasbourg is an important city on the eastern border of France, very close to Germany, also known as the 'Intersection of Europe'. Since the time of the Roman Empire, Strasbourg has been an important stop for traveler merchants and for this reason has become such an important city. It is located in the Alsace region, so it has its own dialect; here you will hear people speaking French and Alsace.
The city is divided into two parts: the old city and the new city. In the new city you will find a more modern architecture and the European Parliament. In the old town (Little France) .. well ... here is all the magic! You will feel like in Santa Claus' City (even in summer) because of all kiosks, small shops and restaurants. The main selling objects of souvenir shops are the witches (such as those Romanians see on the way to their mountains, that were found in the 80s and 90s). The main attraction is the Notre Dame Cathedral with its Gothic architecture.
So what do you do? Take the boat down the canal, admire the buildings, listen to the history of the city, visit all that is to be visited, buy a witch, buy fridge magnets, take a lot of pictures, walk on the narrow streets and if you want to eat like a local, to taste traditional dishes click on my other post "Eat like a local in Strasbourg". We could not even walk after that. Eat anything - you will have your mouth full of all kinds of delicious tastes and flavors !

#Santa, baby (song: Eartha Kitt - Santa, baby)
Told ya, you are going to feel so christmasy, even though it's full summer!

You also have to go for a boat trip down the canal. The scenery is amazing and you will find out many interesting things about the history of Strasbourg and the buildings you are passing by. Another interesting thing: At a certain point on the canal, you'll be between two gates, one in front of you, another in the back. Both will close and the water level will begin to rise and the boat will rise. The water level needs to be the same as the other side of the city to facilitate water traffic. Then you will continue the trip.
